WATCH: Republican Presidential Candidates Make Their Pitch for Second Place

August 23, 2023

They may not have as many indictments as the Republican frontrunner, but these five presidential candidates are still gunning to win over Trump voters and become the future of the conservative movement.

Of those who attended the Iowa State Fair, only a handful qualified for the Republican Presidential Debate Wednesday night—including the former vice president.

While many have praised him for his role in certifying the 2020 presidential election results on Jan. 6, Mike Pence’s legacy before that day was one of harsh anti-LGBTQ policy, privatization of education, and an aggressive rollback of renewable energy standards.

Pence will join eight others on the Republican Presidential Debate stage at 6 p.m. in the scramble to shrink the 38-point lead held by his former boss, who is expected to be booked in a Georgia jail this week on charges of racketeering and conspiracy.
