From turkey to complete meals, here are nine Arizona businesses that will ensure a convenient, local, and fresh Thanksgiving dinner.
Thanksgiving is a special time of year when families gather to break bread without having to spend on gifts or stress about much more than presenting a beautiful meal. Traditional meals include stuffing, mashed potatoes and gravy, corn, bread rolls, salad, green bean dishes, sweet potatoes, cranberries, and, of course, turkey.
Arizona is a state of grand fortune, with scores of local farms and farmers markets from which to source all of our necessary produce. We also have reputable farms for turkeys, ample bake shops for pie, and a couple of places that are willing to cook the entire meal!
From turkey to pie to the whole shebang, here are nine Arizona businesses that will help keep your Thanksgiving Day meal full of fresh flavor for the whole family.
Farm-fresh turkeys
“Jenny-O and Butterball, who?” is all you will say after trying a farm-raised turkey, as they just taste better! While your local butcher shop is a great place to stop by for a turkey, there are only two farms in Arizona this year that are raising turkeys to sell to shops and individuals.
Chiricahua Pasture Raised Meats
Location: 1144 N Pinto Lane, Cochise, AZ
(520) 507-5586
If you decide to order directly from Chiricahua instead of your local meat shop (hint: there are several in Phoenix, including Arcadia Meat Market), be sure to call and place your order beginning on November 4. They will accept orders until they are sold out—AKA first come, first served.
Ridgeview Farm
Location: Paulden, AZ
928-6377-8265
“Home of the Happy Chickens” is also home to year-round turkeys. To order a Thanksgiving turkey, call or email owner Alex by Nov 20. He only raises so many turkeys, though, so the sooner you order, the better! Catch him at the Prescott and Uptown farmers market year-round, selling chicken, quail, duck, turkey, and eggs.
4-H
If these farms are too far for you, or your local shop just doesn’t have access to turkeys this year, look to see if your area has a local 4-H program. Many kids are willing to sell their animals to the highest bidder, which means you can buy high-quality protein while simultaneously supporting young community members on their learning journey.
Pies and sides, please!
While it is convenient to buy from Costco or Whole Foods, ordering pies and sides from one of these Arizona businesses means supporting your local economy while ensuring higher-quality food.
Mortimer Farms
Location: 12907 E. State Route 169, Dewey, AZ 86327
Too understaffed to raise turkeys this year, Mortimer Farms is still open for taking orders for their amazing baked goods made from their farm-grown produce. From apple to pecan to strawberry, blueberry, pumpkin, and more, the sweets here will save you the sweat of making it yourself while ensuring you are eating locally grown produce processed into an amazing dessert that your guests will want seconds of! Don’t count on leftovers unless you order extra. Mortimer Farms is currently taking online and in-store orders for both Thanksgiving and Christmas day sweets. Prices here range from $16 to $28 each.
Sydney’s Sweet Shoppe
Location: 8969 E Tanque Verde Rd Ste 209, Tucson, AZ
Made in house with award winning flaky butter crust, Sydney’s Sweet Shoppe is the place for pie. With a convenient drive-through, you can pick up your perfect pie the day before the holiday; just be sure to order soon to ensure your sweets, as pre-orders for Thanksgiving must be placed by November 18. Pies here are around $30 each.
Beckett’s Table
Location: 3717 E Indian School Rd. Phoenix, AZ
Started by a chef and sommeliers, Becketts Table is a sophisticated stop for good eats and well-paired wine. Lucky for you, they are also willing to cook the sweets AND the sides for your Thanksgiving feast. Sides available for order include noble bread ($28), stuffing ($38), mashed potatoes ($40), and garlic gravy ($34). Desserts available include fig and pecan pie ($48) and citrus zest cream cheese ice cream ($17 per pint). Each order of a side or sweet feeds about 6 people. Orders must be placed via their online form by Saturday, Nov 23, at 4 p.m., and pickups are on Wednesday, Nov 27, between noon and 5 p.m.
Mamma Toledo’s The Pie Hole
Location: 15414 N 7th St #6, Phoenix, AZ
While pre-orders for Thanksgiving have closed for this pie shop, they are offering fully stocked shelves of their award-winning sweets the two days before Turkey Day. They are available on a first-come, first-served basis and include some serious deliciousness. Apple pies, cherry pies, nut pies, vegan pies–oh my! You can fill your pie hole for right around $25 per sweet treat.
Entire Thanksgiving meals
If you don’t have many options near you, there’s always Sprouts, Fry’s, or Buca Di Beppo, but here are three unique Arizona businesses that will cook the entire meal for you!
Miracle Mile Deli
Location: 4433 N 16th St, Phoenix, AZ
602-776-0992
Offering turkey, sides, and pie, this family-owned restaurant wants to help with your Thanksgiving feast. They are currently open for pre-orders but will only accept orders over the phone. You can order a full feast for 6 for $245, or you can order specific needs, including a small plate of turkey dinner ($24), a quart of mashed potatoes ($17), gravy ($16), stuffing ($16), coleslaw, potato, or pasta salad ($16), cranberry sauce ($8), hot pastrami ($37/lb), hot brisket ($34/lb), rolls ($24/dozen), loaves of rye bread ($18), or a whole pie for $23. Pie choices include pumpkin, pecan, lemon meringue, Boston cream coconut meringue, apple, and cherry. If you have never tried the Miracle Mile Deli before, I can tell you from experience that even simple dishes here are fantastically delicious.
Arcadia Farms Cafe
Located: 7025 E 1st Ave, Scottsdale, AZ
(480) 947-2666
Order via phone, in the shop, or online for sides or a full meal. Full meal pickups happen ON Thanksgiving, while sides and sweets are ready for pickup the day prior. Place your Thanksgiving order by noon on Monday, November 25. Full meals for six are $300, and available sides and sweets range from traditional to spectacular, including brie cheese wheels and flourless cakes! Arcadia Farms Cafe has been a boutique cafe staple for over 30 years and strives to provide high-quality food worth gathering for. It just may be the right pick for your holiday meal!
Bashas’
Since 1932, Bashas has been an Arizona grocer with a commitment to quality at a good price. Every year, they offer holiday meals at fair prices. Go to your local Bashas’ deli counter to pre-order a holiday meal that can serve 2-12 people and can include a feast of turkey with sides and sweets ($80), turkey dinner for two ($30), spiral ham dinner with sides and sweets ($80), a full turkey feast for 12 ($140), Rib roast dinner with sides and sweets ($100), and a hot tamale tray with sides ($35/dozen). Pickups and availability vary by location, so get your order in ASAP to ensure a simplified yet satisfying Thanksgiving meal.
Feast away
Whether you are a complex cook, an amateur chef, or someone who burns water, everyone can use a little break in the kitchen, especially around the holidays. Many of us can’t swing a potluck-style Thanksgiving, making pre-order pickups the only way to stay sane and energized while hosting the family feast. It’s a lot of work to clean, decorate, cook, and entertain, no matter how much you actually like your family! While I am personally excited to cook the turkey and stuffing for the 12 people gathering in my home on Nov 28, I will surely see some of you while waiting in line to pick up that pie because, well, baking just isn’t my thing.
Whatever you do, get your gobble on with people who matter. Happy feasting!
