Arizona’s peak rental season is coming to an end and the snowbirds are starting to flood in, so we decided to take a page from AZ Big Media’s book and take a look at the most expensive rental areas in Arizona.
According to Rentcafe.com, the two most expensive zip codes are in Scottsdale, where the 85252 zip code has an average rent of $1,856, up nearly 8% from 2018. Rent in Scottsdale’s 85251 zip code, meanwhile, is up 7.3% from last year, with a current average rent of $1,764.
In total, nine of the 10 most expensive zip codes in Arizona are in Scottsdale or Phoenix, with the remaining one being Chandler’s 85286 zip code, which saw the largest percentage increase year-to-year of 8.9%, up to an average of $1,574.
These increases mirror the overall increase of rental costs in the state, specifically in Phoenix, which saw its average rental price surge by 5.8% during the first half of 2019, was the largest percentage jump among major metropolitan areas in the U.S., according to another report from RentCafe.com.
Things haven’t slowed down either; in August 2019, Rentcafe.com found that rental prices in Phoenix have increased 8% year-over-year. They’ve also gone up 7% in Scottsdale, 8% in Chandler, and 6% in Tucson.
At least there’s no humidity though, right?
