Clifton, Globe, and Quartzsite: Arizona Cities Where Big Homes Are Available Under $300K

With some jobs staying remote post-COVID, moving to a more rural area is now possible for more Arizonans. 

Arizona is experiencing a housing shortage, making the market much more competitive than usual, especially in its largest cities. 

But with the COVID-19 pandemic keeping many workers remote, some Arizonans are broadening their horizons when it comes to finding a place to live. 

And when it comes to doing more from home—another bedroom for an office sounds like a good idea. 

Here are some houses that are over 2,000 square feet and listed on Zillow for under $300,000, as of Sept. 9: 

Clifton

Greenlee County, 165 miles east of Phoenix, 4-hour drive from downtown

Want a large space for a not-so-large amount of money? This $252,000 home in Clifton is nearly 2,400 square feet and has four bedrooms and two bathrooms. 

This 1983 home is a split floor plan and has an office area with its own entrance.

Florence

Pinal County, 50 miles southeast of Phoenix, 1-hour drive from downtown

If you fancy yourself a carpenter, this $289,000 Florence home has a big garage and woodshop waiting for you. 

The house has three bedrooms and two bathrooms and is 2,049 square feet.

Globe

Gila County, 75 miles east of Phoenix, 1.5-hour drive from downtown

This home in Globe offers over 2,500 square feet for under $265,000.

The four-bed, two-bath house was built in 1952, has a fireplace, and has garage space for six cars.

Heber

Navajo County, 110 miles northeast of Phoenix, 2.5-hour drive from downtown

If you like to spend a lot of time outside in the shade, this Heber home with a huge deck may be for you. 

The four-bed, two-bath home is 2,240 square feet and listed for $275,000.

Kingman

Mohave County, 165 miles northwest of Phoenix, 3-hour drive from downtown

Ever wanted a mini ranch? That can be possible in Kingman with this 2,000 square foot house for $245,000. 

The home has three bedrooms, two bathrooms, and plenty of surrounding open space. 

“Bring the horses, bring the toys[,] enjoy the outdoors in Arizona!” reads the listing.

Lakeside

Navajo County, 130 miles northeast of Phoenix, 3.5-hour drive from downtown

If you see yourself settling down in the middle of some tall trees, Lakeside’s got a house for you. 

This home offers more than 2,000 square feet for just $186,000. The three-bed, two-bath home was built in 1970 and has a heated porch and “’she-shed OR man-cave.”

Marana

Pima County, 85 miles southeast of Phoenix, 1.5-hour drive from downtown

In Marana, you can get over 2,100 square feet for under $290,000. 

This four-bedroom, two-bathroom house was built in 1999 and is set on a 3.75-acre property. The home has a gated entrance and comes with a pool table. 

And as the listing notes, “Bring your horses, ATV’s and RV’s, there’s room for all!”

Quartzsite

La Paz County, 125 miles west of Phoenix, 2-hour drive from downtown

If you’re willing to go out west to Quartzsite, there’s a $265,000 home with over 3,000 square feet waiting for you. 

The listing notes that while it is freshly painted, it is a cash-only sale and there is some work to be done—the previous owner made some additions to the home that need finishing.

Safford

Graham County, 140 miles southeast of Phoenix, 3-hour drive from downtown

In Safford, $279,000 can get you nearly 3,000 square feet with an unbeatable view of the surrounding mountains. 

The 1995 home has five bedrooms and 2.75 bathrooms.

Sierra Vista

Cochise County, 170 miles southeast of Phoenix, 3-hour drive from downtown

Over 2,000 square feet and a pool for under $300K? This Sierra Vista home with three bedrooms and two bathrooms is listed for $299,000. 

The home was built in 1980 and also has a fireplace.
