You Don’t Have to Go Through Election Night Alone. Find Your Squad With These Livestreams.

Choose a regular election night party or an alternative event, like a cocktail demo. 

Many Americans typically spend presidential election nights in groups, watching results come in and sharing some drinks and discussion along the way. 

But with the COVID-19 pandemic putting big gatherings on hold, many voters may feel they have to go through the anxiety and adrenaline rushes alone. 

Luckily, there are still ways to safely create community online. Here are some livestream events to tune into Tuesday: 

Arizona Education Association

The Arizona Education Association (AEA), which has been a big supporter of Proposition 208 (also known as Invest in Ed) is holding a watch party starting at 7 p.m. Arizona time. Attendees will hear from AEA-supported candidates and “enjoy each other’s company.”

Arizona List

Arizona List, an organization dedicating to electing pro-abortion rights women in the state, is holding a Facebook Live watch party at 7:30 p.m. with candidates the group has endorsed on hand to join the discussion.

Black Girls Vote

Black Girls Vote will hold an election night party on Facebook Live starting at 6:30 p.m. The event will feature live music, guest speakers, and prizes.

Flip the West

Flip the West, a group dedicated to electing Democrats in western states, is holding a free election night party at 9 p.m. The event will include music, comedy, and commentary. 

Marijuana Industry Trade Association

The Marijuana Industry Trade Association (MITA) will hold a free election watch party Tuesday night. A panel of industry leaders will discuss Proposition 207, or the Smart and Safe Act, which would legalize recreational marijuana in Arizona.

Mijente

Mijente, a Latinx rights advocacy group, will host a virtual hangout for watching the results starting at 6 p.m.  

Out to Vote

Join Equality Arizona and other LQBTQ advocacy groups to watch returns come in, starting at 7 p.m.

Planned Parenthood Advocates of Arizona

Planned Parenthood’s Arizona branch will host a Facebook live election watch party starting at 7:15 p.m. Staff, volunteers, and local Planned Parenthood-endorsed candidates will be on hand to answer questions about their experiences this election cycle.

Alternative Events

If some voters would rather not tune in to the election results this year, there are some fun distractions out there. 

Anxiety Hotline

For people seeking chill over thrills, life coach Susana Rinderle will be holding free 20-minute sessions every hour on the hour from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Arizona time. Participants can meditate, sit in communal silence, vent their feelings, or do whatever wellness technique they find helpful. 

Cocktail Demo

For voters who want to get a little fancy with their election night drinks, MixMasters Bar and Beverage Consulting is holding online cocktail demonstrations throughout Tuesday night. Participants can choose between two menus—the ByeDon blueberry vodka and White House white chocolate cocktails, or The GOP grand old whiskey and POTUS layered cocktails. Tickets normally cost $50 but are available for half off with promo code “PANDEMIC.” 

Detox Party

Political Subversities, a New York-based comedy troupe, is holding a YouTube livestream meant to “exfoliate 2020” starting at 6 p.m. The pay-what-you-can event will include “musical comedy” and reflections from activists, with proceeds being split among community organizing groups.
