7 Things to Do This Halloween in the Phoenix Metro Area

If you want to get out of the house this All Hallows’ Eve, look no further than this collection of fun sights to see and spooky places to be.

October 31st is fast approaching, and in-person events are back this year! Pick out your costume, grab a mask, and head to one of The Copper Courier’s top choices for day-of festivities.

We have included long-standing local favorites, as well as new attractions! There is something for every age this year, so get ready for a spooky celebration. Follow the links below for haunted houses, family activities, and Halloween parties all throughout the Valley.  

Haunted Graveyard

Who it’s for: Ages 13+
What it costs: Free, with a $5 suggested donation.
Where it is: Old Town Scottsdale.
When to go: Plan for a 13-minute walk-through any time between 6:30 p.m.—10:00 p.m.

Spooky Science

Who it’s for: All ages, but specifically designed for curious young minds.
What it costs: Free with an Arizona Science Center membership. Non-member prices are $15 ages 3-17, and $20 ages 18+.
Where it is: Arizona Science Center.
When to go: Reservations are available from 10:30 a.m.—2:45 p.m.

Pumpkin & Chili Party

Who it’s for: All ages (the Haunted Bus is for guests ages 10 and up).
What it costs: $24 for general admission, $3 for the Haunted Bus Ride
Where it is: Schnepf Farms in Queen Creek.
When to go: Any time between 10 a.m.—9 p.m. for corn mazes, family meals, and shows. For the new “The Wreckoning Haunted Bus” attraction, rides run from 6 p.m.—9 p.m.

Orpheum Ghost Tours: Lights Out Experience

Who it’s for: This special edition of the tour is 90 minutes long and slightly more hands-on. We would recommend it for teenagers and older.
What it costs: $45
Where it is: Orpheum Theatre in Downtown Phoenix.
When to go: Showtimes are at 6 p.m., 6:30 p.m., and 7:30 p.m.

Halloween Town

Who it’s for: All ages, with rides geared toward kids 2-8 years old.
What it costs: $5 general admission, $20 all-day ride wristband.
Where it is: Halloween Town Pumpkin Patch at the Scarizona Scaregrounds in Mesa.
When to go: This event runs from 11 a.m.—10 p.m., so set aside a couple of hours for face painting, pumpkin picking, and more!

Your Neighborhood

Who it’s for: Anyone looking to Trick-or-Treat or go sightseeing.
What it costs: A free Nextdoor account.
Where it is: Use the interactive Treat Map to find your location.
When to go: We recommend early evening for treats, and after-dark (sunset will be around 5:30 p.m.) for checking out yard displays!

Bonus Destination: Boo at the Zoo

Who it’s for: The entire family
What it costs: $7 for HPZS Members, $10 for Non-Members
Where it is: This one is a little outside the Phoenix metro area, but it’s definitely worth the drive. Boo at the Zoo is held at Heritage Park Zoological Sanctuary in Prescott.
When to go: Trick or Treating starts at 5 p.m. for ages 0-6 and opens to all ages at 6 p.m.
