I love learning the stories behind city and town names, and—in my opinion—one of the best ones in Arizona is Show Low.

To sum it up, two early settlers played a game of poker to settle a dispute over land.

As the game drew out, one of them said, “If you can show low, you win.” The other pulled a low card, winning the land.

But I’m wondering—do you know what that low card was? Hint: The city’s Main Street is named after it. Take a guess and check your answer in the story below.
