@coppercourier Lacy Chaffee and her husband went to Mesa Public Schools their entire time in public education. Their five children are students at various schools in the district, and she wants to see them properly funded. Voters in Mesa voted against a $500 million bond measure in the 2023 election. The measure failed by just over 1,000 votes. Another bond measure will likely be on the ballot in 2024. Chaffee said her son had no functional air conditioning unit in his classroom, and parents had to come together and fundraise to get fans and water to make the kids' classroom more bearable.
