For 13 consecutive weeks, concerned constituents have gathered outside Rep. David Schweikert’s office, urging him to protect Medicaid and other social services.
Over the past month, the Arizona Alliance for Retired Americans has joined the weekly demonstrations to commemorate Older Americans Month and show the congressman that seniors in his district want him to oppose cuts to Medicaid.
The groups hope to influence the congressman to defy his party and vote against the proposed budget, which includes $625 billion in cuts to Medicaid.
They’re encouraging community members to join them outside his North Scottsdale office every Monday morning—or to call his office and share personal messages about the importance of protecting Medicaid.
