Scottsdale was named the fourth best U.S. city to drive in, according to a new study from Wallethub.
There are many factors that make Scottsdale a pleasant place to drive in, the study showed. WalletHub factored 30 components into their ranking such as; gas prices, annual hours in traffic per driver, auto-repair shops per capita, and car theft rate.
Driving can be a pain, however, unless you are in a walkable city with a large public transportation system it is a necessary evil. According to Bureau of Transportation Statistics, 87% of Americans rely on personal vehicles to get around.
Why is Scottsdale a good city to drive in?
Out of the 30 factors in WalletHub’s study, Scottsdale scored a total of 63.62 points, when the top overall rank, Corpus Christy, Texas, scored a 66.81.
Scottsdale scored high in two specific categories: safety and traffic and infrastructure. Specifically, Scottsdale is No. 1 in traffic and infrastructure. Within that category, things such as average commute time by car, quality of roads, number of cold days and more factors were considered.
Scottsdale also ranked 18th in safety out of 100 cities, according to WalletHub. Within that category Scottsdale ranked as the fourth lowest city with car theft and the fifth least likely city to have a crash in.
Other rankings that Scottsdale did well in include best access to vehicles and maintenance (26th) and low cost of ownership and maintenance (54th).
