The F.Q. Story Historic Neighborhood has been hosting the Home Tour and Holiday Street Marketplace for 38 years, allowing the community to experience unique historic homes while spotlighting the importance of historic preservation and community.
“Neighborhoods that are close-knit and actually do things together and try to build community are on the more rare side. So, I think it’s really important to try and foster and preserve that as much as possible, as much as we try to preserve our old historic homes,” said Sasha Robinson, co-chair of the F.Q. Story Historic Home Tour committee.
Yes, the home tour is a fun event that gives the community a sneak peek into some of Phoenix’s most interesting historic homes but it’s also a way to bond with the neighborhood residents and shop locally for the holidays.
Here’s everything to know about the F.Q. Story Home Tour for 2025.
What is the FQ Story Home Tour?
F.Q. Story is one of the first Phoenix neighborhoods to receive a historic designation. The city now has 36 designated historic neighborhoods.
Ticket sales from the home tour will help fund next year’s event, build up a savings fund for neighborhood preservation necessities and emergencies, and help stock pantry programs at the neighborhood’s Franklin School and Family School.
“Our historic neighborhoods give us a really easy platform to build community, and it doesn’t matter the background of the people in the community, it’s just that we’re all there enjoying this environment together and working together to preserve what we can,” Robinson said. “So, holding these types of fundraising events not only helps us earn money that can go towards protecting our neighborhoods, but it also opens up that community to the broader Phoenix community so that they can also participate and appreciate the area.”
“These historic districts are not just for the people who are lucky enough to live there,” Robinson continued. “It’s really for everybody to enjoy.”
The F.Q. Story Home Tour is typically an annual event. However, it was canceled in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. When the home tour committee attempted to bring in back in 2023, the plans fell through as not enough homeowners or volunteers wanted to participate.
The tour made its triumphant return in 2024 and is coming back this year with some new additions.
What’s on the FQ Story home tour?
For 2025, there will be 10 homes and six gardens on the F.Q. Story Historic Home Tour.
All of the homes this year are located on either West Culver or West Willetta streets. Some of the styles include a 1925 brick Tudor, a 97-year-old Spanish Colonial Revival, a rare 1937 Pueblo-style with a mid-century interior, and many others.
In order to tour the homes and gardens, guests will need to purchase a ticket to do so. Tickets can be purchased in advance online at fqstoryhometour.org for $25. They will go up to $30 the day of the event.
The holiday market is free for all to attend.
What is the F.Q. Story Holiday Street Marketplace?
The F.Q. Story Holiday Marketplace is a free community event that has over 50 local vendors selling their wares — a perfect time to get some Christmas shopping done while also giving back to the community and having a good time.
During the market there will also be food trucks, carolers strolling around singing a wide variety of holiday tunes and the streets will be lined with luminarias. New for this year, there will a beer and wine garden and a movie screening sometime near sundown.
