US Rep. Greg Stanton of Arizona spoke on the House floor today in remembrance of the 2011 shooting outside of Tucson that left six dead and 13 injured, including then-US Rep. Gabby Giffords.
Giffords, wife of US Sen. Mark Kelly of Arizona, suffered a traumatic brain injury as a result of the attack during her meeting with constituents.
In 2022, President Joe Biden awarded Giffords the Presidential Medal of Freedom, the country’s highest civilian honor, for her advocacy against gun violence.
