As Arizona neared 25,000 total deaths from COVID-19 on Monday, Gov. Doug Ducey all but ignored the ongoing pandemic during his eighth and final state of the state address. Instead, Ducey claimed that Arizona had “protected” lives during the pandemic.
“During the pandemic, as other states grandstanded, Arizona protected lives,” Ducey claimed.
Under Ducey’s watch, 25,000 Arizonans have died of COVID-19 and one out of every 400 Arizona children have been orphaned. Arizona’s rate of death is so far above the national average that it’s second of all 50 states, behind only Mississippi.
