The largest traveling Vietnam Wall replica has made a home in State Farm Stadium for the weekend.
The American Veteran Traveling Tribute is currently on display at the Arizona Cardinals stadium and will be open to the public until 3 p.m. Sunday.
The memorial does not close in the evenings, and is available to view 24 hours each day until it leaves. Visitors can park for free at Cardinals Way and 95th Avenue. The memorial includes a replica of the Vietnam Veterans Memorial Wall in Washington, D.C., at 80% scale.
The wall is eight feet high and 360 feet long. It is inscribed with the names of 58,318 Americans who were wounded or died in the war, including more than 600 Arizonans.
Between 6 a.m. and 9 p.m., visitors can access a database to help them find specific names on the wall. After its appearance in Arizona, the traveling memorial will make three stops in Texas.
“This is a great opportunity for people to pay tribute to those who died serving our country,” Glendale Mayor Jerry P. Weiers said in a press release. “If you’ve never had an opportunity to visit the wall in Washington D.C., I would strongly encourage you to come out and visit while it is here.”
Another version of the wall, a 50% scale replica, was stationed in Peoria for a few days last summer.
An estimated total number of 3.4 million people died in the Vietnam War, which began in 1955 and ended in 1975.
