Start your summer morning with iced coffee, fresh produce, and local love at these Phoenix farmers markets.
Do you hear that? It’s the excited chatter of summer mornings at the farmers market as you wander from booth to booth, exploring handmade goods, colorful florals, and fresh local produce, with an iced coffee in one hand and a freshly baked baguette in the other.
There’s truly nothing better than starting your day at the farmers market. You can stock up on local ingredients for a homemade dinner, enjoy the fresh air before the temperatures rise, and support small businesses while you’re at it.
Even better? It’s a fun and free way to spend your morning, making it perfect for those on a budget. Even if you don’t buy anything, you’ll still enjoy a morning filled with tasty samples, friendly faces, and a vibrant community vibe.
Luckily, in the Phoenix area, there’s no shortage of farmers markets. Here are my summer favorites.
1. Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 7:30–11:30 a.m. (third Saturday in May–second Saturday in October); 8 a.m.–1 p.m. (third Saturday in Oct–second Saturday in May)
Where: 720 N. Fifth St., Phoenix
Parking: You can find bike parking at the southern entrance of Pierce Street and the northeast corner of Fifth Street and McKinley. Car parking is available in the same lot as the market, but if that fills up, there’s free and metered street parking as well as paid parking at 555 E. Fillmore and the Arizona Center Garage.
The Downtown Phoenix Farmers Market takes place every Saturday in the heart of the city, seamlessly blending the energy of downtown with the charm of a small farmstand. Rain or shine, you’ll find locally grown, seasonal produce alongside handmade goods, food trucks, fresh flowers, plants, body care products, pet treats, and much more. It’s one of the most well-rounded markets in town and a great way to start your weekend.
Pro tip: Grab a loaf of sourdough from the Proof Bread booth to snack on as you explore. And don’t be surprised if you leave with more than you planned; this market makes it easy to linger, and many booths are just too hard to pass up.
2. Uptown Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 7:00–11:00 a.m. (year-round); Wednesdays (October–June)
Where: 5757 N. Central Ave., Phoenix
Parking: Since the Uptown Farmers Market is in the parking lot of the North Phoenix Baptist Church, there is plenty of free parking!
Calling all foodies! Head uptown to the Uptown Farmers Market for one of the best selections of Arizona-grown produce, handmade foods, and locally crafted goods. This market is all about inspiring home cooks to get creative in the kitchen with fresh, seasonal ingredients, and it does not disappoint. While most booths are food-focused, you’ll also find florals, jewelry, clothing, soaps, and other locally made finds.
Uptown also operates as an online farmers market. You can order all your market favorites and have them delivered right to your door every Saturday. Just head to their website and sign up for the Newsletter for more information.
Pro tip: Cool off with a handcrafted ginger beer from the Gold Soda Co. booth. It’s made fresh daily and hits the spot, especially on a hot summer day.
3. Gilbert Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 7-11 a.m.
Where: 222 N. Ash St., Gilbert
Parking: There’s free parking in a nearby customer lot and parking garage; both are located within walking distance of the market.
Make the trek down to Gilbert for the Gilbert Farmers Market. Once you spot the iconic Gilbert water tower, you’ll know you’re in the right place. With over 100 vendors, this market offers everything from organic produce and farm-fresh eggs to meats, dairy, local breads, coffee, sweets, and artisanal goods. Their mission centers on local sustainability, healthy habits, and green living; all while bringing the community together and helping people connect with the place their food comes from.
Pro tip: Don’t leave without picking up a few of the famous tamales from The Tamale Store booth. You’ll thank me later.
4. Downtown Chandler Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 7-10 a.m. (June–September); Saturdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (October–May)
Where: 3 S. Arizona Ave., Chandler
Parking: There’s plenty of parking near the market, including a small lot, street parking, and a parking garage within a short walking distance.
Downtown Chandler is one of the Phoenix area’s best-kept secrets, and its farmers market is no exception. Held every Saturday at Dr. A.J. Chandler Park West, this market features over 30 vendors offering a solid mix of local farm goods, artisanal foods, beverages, and handcrafted items. You’re also likely to catch live music while you stroll, adding to the laid-back and friendly community feel.
Once you’ve made your way through the market, don’t rush off just yet; downtown Chandler has plenty of local restaurants, coffee shops, and boutiques worth checking out. Why not turn your morning market run into a full day of fun?
Pro tip: Order the parmesan-crusted grilled cheese from Mickey’s Hot Mess. Trust me, it’s a fan favorite for a reason.
5. Roadrunner Park Farmers Market
When: Saturdays, 7-11 a.m.
Where: 3502 E. Cactus Road, Phoenix
Parking: Plenty of free parking nearby!
Head to Roadrunner Park for one of the most beloved Phoenix farmers markets. It has been connecting the community with local growers since 1989. You’ll find everything from farm-fresh fruits and veggies to natural meats, eggs, baked goods, and handcrafted items.
What really sets this market apart from the others (in addition to its loyal and strong community) is the setting. Roadrunner Park has a playground, a fishing pond, and open fields, making it a great spot for families to relax, play, and enjoy the morning.
Pro tip: Treat yourself to a warm, freshly made malasada (a delicious Hawaiian fried doughnut-like pastry) from Wiki-licious.
6. Ahwatukee Farmers Market
When: Sundays, 8-11 a.m. (June–September); 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (October–May)
Where: 4700 E. Warner Road, Phoenix
Parking: The parking lot is small, so depending on when you arrive, you may need to walk a little bit to the market.
If Saturday mornings are off the table for you, look no further than Ahwatukee Farmers Market. Held every Sunday since opening in 2004, this neighborhood favorite has been going strong for over 20 years. You’ll find a tasty lineup of local foods, fresh herbs, natural meats and seafood, plus artisan goods, florals, and locally made arts and crafts.
Pro tip: Say goodbye to basic oatmeal and stop by Flaming Oats to try their protein-packed (and plant-based!) savory oatmeal.
7. Momma’s Organic Market
When: Saturdays, 9 a.m.–1 p.m. (October–May); Saturdays, 8-11 a.m. (June–September)
Where: 7780 W. Arrowhead Towne Center, Glendale
Parking: Since it’s located at the Arrowhead mall, there’s lots of free parking nearby.
Farmers, chefs, artisans, food trucks, and plenty of Saturday fun await at Momma’s Organic Market. Located in Glendale and open year-round, this market covers all your food needs…and then some. In addition to fresh produce and local eats, you’ll find candles, soaps, botanicals, handmade crafts, pottery, and more. In fact, there’s new vendors every week!
Pro tip: Don’t miss Dodie’s Delectables for mouthwatering homemade marshmallows. Flavors range from cookies and cream to butterbeer, s’mores, and yes—even pickle. (You read that right.)
8. Tempe Farmers Market
When: Daily: The Market: 8 a.m.-3 p.m.; The Dark Side: 3 p.m.-12 a.m. (Sunday-Thursday), 3 p.m.–2 a.m. (Friday-Saturday).
Where: 805 S. Farmer Ave., Tempe
Tempe Farmers Market is a little different from your typical farmers market. Not only is it open daily, but it’s also indoors, offering a nice break from the Arizona heat. During the day, you’ll find all your local staples: fresh produce, prepped foods, fair trade coffee and teas, honey, and even some rare vintage finds. But when the sun goes down, things take a turn. The market transforms into “The Dark Side,” a speakeasy-style spot serving custom craft cocktails, local draft beers, and live music on the regular. It’s truly a must-visit spot, offering something each time you come.
Pro tip: Grab a cup from local fair-trade roaster Cortez Coffee. Roasting since 1993, their rich flavor comes from air-roasting the beans and hand-packaging each batch with care.
