Less than 50 feet from Lowell Williams’ 700-acre working cattle ranch in Wickenburg, Arizona, the Desert Bloom utility-scale battery energy storage system is allegedly moving full steam ahead.
Construction of the facility is being driven in part by growing energy demands fueled by the development of new AI data centers.
Williams, a third-generation rancher, has already built homes on the property for the fourth and fifth generations of his family—a future he says is threatened by the new building.
