What does a budget look like when it actually puts people first?
On June 4, community members gathered at the State Capitol for Budget for the People Day. Among them was Magdalena Marin, a member of the Arizona grassroots advocacy group Fuerte, who highlighted a major flaw in current aid systems: how one monthly disability check can disqualify a family for help, while still failing to cover the bare utilities and rent.
