One of my comfort restaurants in Phoenix is The Old Spaghetti Factory, off of Central Avenue and McDowell Road.
I first ate there over a decade ago with my family when I was studying at ASU. We loved it, and now whenever they’re in town, we make sure this is on the itinerary.

The thing that stood out to us was the pasta with mizithra cheese and browned butter. It was a dish I hadn’t seen offered at any other restaurant, and to this day, I’ve still never seen it on another menu.
The richness of the butter and nuttiness of the cheese makes for a delicious pasta sauce, and I like ordering it as part of the Manager’s Favorite (a half-and-half plate) with the pesto alfredo.
The pasta is just one element of a three-course meal, with bread, salad, and ice cream included in the price.
Along with mizithra, The Old Spaghetti Factory introduced me to spumoni ice cream, which is cherry, chocolate, and pistachio—in my opinion, more delicious than Neapolitan!
And if the food isn’t convincing enough, the restaurant also hosts murder mystery nights so you can have dinner and a show. I’ve never been to one but would love to experience it someday!

On Monday, we talked about SNAP cuts in Arizona that have resulted from President Trump’s One Big Beautiful Act.
Since the president signed it last year, about 470,000 of Arizona’s SNAP recipients have lost benefits, including 200,000 children.
