Arizona Gov. Doug Ducey made one thing abundantly clear during his state of the state speech on Monday night: he is all-in on charter schools and “school choice,” regardless of the consequences to public schools.
“This session, let’s expand school choice any way we can: Greater open enrollment, new transportation models, more charter schools, and more educational freedom for families,” Ducey said.
Nine in 10 Arizona students attend public schools and the expansion of charter schools would benefit his supremely wealthy donors at the expense of ordinary Arizonans.
