Here’s how to support six local restaurants serving up meatless dishes during the pandemic. 

Seventh Street in Phoenix is known as vegetarian and vegan paradise. Restaurants up and down the road offer tons of plant-based options for those looking to avoid meat, dairy, and animal products in general.

Here are some small businesses in that area that are offering either delivery or takeout during the coronavirus pandemic.

The Coronado PHX

2201 N. Seventh Street

The Coronado is offering its vegan fare for takeout and delivery through Postmates and Doordash. Orders can be placed online

Menu items include cauliflower tacos, a build-your-own mimosa kit, and vegan pastries. Meals range from $6 to $10.50, while alcoholic drink kits are $7-8. The restaurant is also collecting donations for its staff members.

Giving Tree Cafe

2024 N. Seventh Street

The Giving Tree Cafe offers a fully organic, vegan, and gluten-free menu. The restaurant is offering takeout and delivery through Doordash and Grubhub. Takeout orders can be placed at 480-630-0200.

Menu items include all-day buckwheat pancakes, a jackfruit barbecue sandwich, and a long list of juices and smoothies. Breakfast foods range from $6 to $12, while full salads, soups, sandwiches, and entrees are $10 to $14.

La Bella Pizzeria and Restaurant

6505 N. Seventh Street

La Bella offers a kosher, pescetarian Italian menu for takeout every day and a special Mexican menu on Sundays and Tuesdays. The restaurant is not offering delivery, but orders for pick-up can be placed at 602-354-7002.

Menu items include fresh fish, vegetable-topped pizzas, and desserts brought in from New York. Fourteen-inch pizzas start at $15.99 and 18-inch pies start at $19.99. Most fish entrees are $21-22, while desserts are $3-8.

Verdura Plant-Based Eatery

555 N. Seventh Street

Verdura is offering curbside pickup for to-go orders and delivery. Call 602-283-5168 to place an order. Delivery if offered for free “within range.” 

Menu items include seitan carne asada nachos, a walnut-lentil veggie burger, and a “goth” waffle with activated charcoal and raspberry sorbet. Prices are not available online.

Urban Beans

3508 N. Seventh Street

Urban Beans is offering free delivery for its vegan cafe items within 10 miles of its location. Orders can be placed online

Menu items include vegan pastrami, dinner meal kits, and homemade salad dressings. Meal kits are $16-40, and dressings are $4-6.

Whyld Ass

4810 N. Seventh Street

Whyld Ass is offering its menu for takeout and delivery through Postmates. Call 602-237-6724 to place an order for pick-up. 

Menu items include stuffed french toast, macaroni and cashew cheese, and gluten-free vegan desserts. Breakfast foods are $7.25 to $12, while other meals are $10-14.

Who’s Closed? 

Green New American Vegetarian, a popular meat-free spot, has temporarily closed operations at its Seventh Street and Tempe locations until further notice. 

“The health of our staff and community is our number one priority and we can no longer risk either,” the restaurant said in a Facebook post on March 23. “Don’t worry, this isn’t goodbye and we hope to see you soon.”
