The number of people suffering and dying from COVID-19 in Arizona continues to rise.
The Arizona Department of Health Services announced Tuesday that five people have now died from coronavirus in the state.
The new numbers show 326 people have tested positive for coronavirus in Arizona. Of those positive results, 285 came from private labs while 41 came from the state’s Public Health Laboratory.
The state lab reported that it has tested a total of 356 people. Of those tested, 22 are pending and 313 have been ruled negative.
It’s unclear, however, how many people in total have been tested in Arizona. That’s because private labs have not been reporting the number of administered tests–only confirmed cases–but that is now changing.
Gov. Doug Ducey issued an executive order Monday requiring commercial labs to “report the results of all COVID-19 tests or a weekly aggregate number of total COVID-19 tests performed.”
The order also requires Arizona hospitals to send daily updates on staffing, their current triage process, and the availability of ventilators, beds, and medical supplies.
“Working with healthcare providers and our local partners across the state, this advisory will expand our capability to respond and keep Arizonans safe,” Ducey said in a press release.
Arizona Covid-19 Resources
The governor’s office on Tuesday launched a new website for coronavirus resources called Arizona Together.
The site includes information on virtual learning for students, shopping hours for seniors, food bank locations, strategies for managing anxiety, and more.
It also directs business owners and employees affected by closures to resources for financial assistance.
On Sunday, the governor’s office also launched a 2-1-1 coronavirus hotline. The hotline provides information on prevention, testing, and more in both English and Spanish.
