If you’re looking to make an impact while decluttering your home, there are a plethora of local organizations across Arizona looking to accept clothing, shoes, furniture, and other household items to benefit communities in need. We’ve compiled a list of five Goodwill alternatives to ensure that your donations help Arizonans in meaningful ways.
1. St. Joseph The Worker – Phoenix
St. Joseph the Worker helps individuals experiencing homelessness find employment, and by donating, you can help job seekers acquire attire for interviews and work. The store specifically needs items to stock their Workforce Villages and Employment Services clients. Although they are currently not accepting clothing, they are in need of items to stock their specific programs.
What They Accept: Cleaning supplies, kitchenware, stationery, and hygiene items
2. Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona – Phoenix
By donating to Big Brothers Big Sisters of Central Arizona, all earned proceeds help fund the mentorship program that empowers Arizona’s youth. You can learn more about how and where to donate here.
What They Accept: Clothing, shoes, and small household items
3. Hope’s Closet Thrift Store – Goodyear
Hope’s Closet is a thrift store owned and operated by New Life Center, which helps support domestic violence survivors.
