Could troops end up at polling places? Gallego says the risk is real

US Sen. Ruben Gallego of Arizona is warning that Republicans blocked a bill meant to keep troops away from polling places.

In a video posted to Threads, Gallego said the threat is not hypothetical, pointing to Trump’s continued focus on the 2020 election and federal scrutiny of voting in Maricopa County.

He argued that sending the military into election spaces could intimidate voters, politicize the armed forces, and give a president another way to challenge the will of voters.
