Sen. Mark Kelly repeatedly asked Trump’s DNI nominee Jay Clayton whether Joe Biden won the 2020 election.
Clayton avoided giving a direct answer. Kelly said the real issue goes beyond 2020: If Clayton won’t disagree with Trump on a basic fact in a confirmation hearing, can he be trusted to push back when national security decisions are on the line?
“If you can’t disagree with him when he’s not in the room, are you going to be able to disagree with him when you’re sitting across from him in the Oval Office or the Situation Room?”
