More Arizona public schools could soon be shutting their doors permanently.
Scottsdale Unified already shuttered two campuses this year, and the district is weighing closing or consolidating some schools due to the voucher program and declining birth rates.
It comes as Republicans reject Democratic efforts to reform the voucher program, and as its costs rise to $1 billion a year.
