During his eighth and final state of the state address on Monday, Republican Gov. Doug Ducey boasted about delivering wealthy Arizonans the “largest tax cut in Arizona history with the passage of the lowest flat tax in the nation.”
Indeed, once the regressive law is phased in, every Arizonan will pay only 2.5% in state income tax—a shift that will save those earning between $500,000 and $1 million a year more than $12,000, according to the state legislature’s budget analysts. In contrast, Arizonans earning between $75,000 and $100,000 will only save $231.
