Kyrsten Sinema says China is fueling opposition to AI data centers

Former US Sen. Kyrsten Sinema of Arizona is defending AI data centers, claiming local pushback is driven by Chinese “misinformation.”

Speaking on Fox News, Sinema pushed back against a recent poll showing that 70% of Americans oppose new data centers in their communities.

Sinema, who co-chairs the industry-backed AI Infrastructure Coalition, has long advocated for the industry. Late last year, she lobbied Chandler city officials to approve a massive facility—even warning that the Trump administration could intervene if they declined.

Despite her lobbying, the Chandler City Council voted unanimously to reject the proposal following intense resident opposition.
