I’m headed to the East Coast for a week before my sister’s wedding, and I’m excited to step into fall somewhere other than the desert.
Things are looking good here, though. After some record rain, we in central and southern Arizona have emerged from hot temps into some deliciously cool weather, while the northern part of the state is getting a little crispier.
That goes hand in hand with a huge events list for this weekend, so let’s get into it:

Protesters have planned a second round of No Kings rallies across Arizona and nationwide as President Donald Trump continues to “escalate his violent authoritarian attacks on our freedoms,” event organizers said.
Dozens of No Kings rallies across the state are planned for Saturday, with nearly two dozen in the greater Phoenix area, according to a map of events listed on the organizing website nokings.org.
The day of action is what organizers described as “the next step” in a steady movement of peaceful and coordinated demonstrations. More than 2,100 protests and rallies are being planned in all 50 states.
Nearly four months ago, thousands of Arizonans gathered on June 14 for the first No Kings demonstration at Wesley Bolin Memorial Plaza at the state Capitol in Phoenix. The event was among 2,000 such anti-Trump demonstrations in communities around the country.
This Saturday’s rally at the Arizona State Capitol in Phoenix begins at 11 a.m. and is scheduled to last until 1 p.m.
