One of the biggest stories so far this year has been the apparent abduction of Savannah Guthrie’s 84-year-old mother in Tucson.
Guthrie announced last week that she will return to NBC’s “Today” show on April 6. She’s been on leave from the show since her mother disappeared on Feb. 1.

Despite the FBI having surveillance videos of a masked man who was outside Guthrie’s mother’s home on the night she vanished, no arrests have been made, and Nancy Guthrie has not been found.
The Guthrie family has offered a $1 million reward for information that leads to the return of their mother.
“How can someone vanish without a trace?” Guthrie asked in an interview with her former co-host, Hoda Kotb. “How? Someone knows something. Even if that something is someone’s been acting strange for the last seven or eight weeks. Even if it’s just that. Somebody knows.”

What are your thoughts on this case? Are you surprised Nancy Guthrie is still missing? Let me know, and I’ll share some responses in tomorrow’s newsletter.

We’re exploring a shift to sending newsletters three times a week instead of five.
The goal is simple: make each send more useful, more focused, and more worth your time. Fewer emails, but sharper ones.
You’ll see a quick poll below—use it to tell us how you feel about fewer sends! Your voice matters.

We’ve had a lot of readers ask how they can get involved in their communities, so we’re letting you know about upcoming opportunities.
Here’s one event to consider this week:
Trans Honor & Resistance by Trans Queer Pueblo
When: Tuesday, March 31, 6 p.m.
Where: Karamba Nightclub, 1724 E. McDowell Road, Phoenix
Description: “Trans Honor & Resistance is a yearly celebration we’ve held since 2017. It’s an alternative to trans day of visibility and remembrance, where we honor our leaders and hear their roar for justice while still in life. It has become a space for trans and nonbinary members of our community to gather, build fellowship, and celebrate our collective sacred power. In the face of increasing attacks on our community—and as other organizations fail to meet the needs and expectations of LGBTQ people—we see Trans Honor & Resistance as the beginning of a New Pride: one rooted in community and people of color.”
