Peep the new ad from Arizona for Abortion Access—part of $15 million campaign for Prop 139

The 30-second ad will air throughout the state on Oct. 7, the voter registration deadline in Arizona, and again when ballots are mailed out on Oct. 9.

If you’re watching television or listening to the radio in early October, you might notice a new ad from the group Arizona for Abortion Access.

The ad debuted on Oct. 1, and it tells the story of an Arizona couple denied medical care last year because of the state’s restrictions on abortion.

The ad is part of a $15 million television and digital ad strategy to inform Arizonans about the chance to protect the right to abortion in the Grand Canyon State by voting yes on Proposition 139.

Proposition 139 will appear on ballots across Arizona during the 2024 election. A “yes” vote supports amending the state constitution to include protections for abortion before fetal viability, or about 24 weeks of pregnancy. That was the standard for legal abortion under Roe v. Wade, the US Supreme Court ruling that granted a federal right to abortion. Roe was overturned in 2022 by the far-right conservative majority on the Court.

Since then, Arizona has been a target for Republicans seeking to take away reproductive rights and health care. Earlier this year, an overwhelming number of voters in the state signed petitions to place a constitutional amendment protecting abortion rights onto the ballot, which led to Prop 139. Every state that’s had a similar ballot measure since 2022 has passed it.

The 30-second ad will air throughout the state on Oct. 7, the voter registration deadline in Arizona, and again when ballots are mailed out on Oct. 9.
