Mornings in Tucson are special. The desert sun peeks over the Catalina Mountains, and the air smells like creosote and fresh tortillas (if you’re lucky). And if you wake up with a growling belly like I do, the first thought that comes to your mind is, “What’s for breakfast?”
Thankfully, Tucson has some amazing breakfast joints. But what we really want sometimes is a fully stacked, cheesy, meaty, downright amazing breakfast burrito.

But who makes the best breakfast burrito in town? That depends on who you ask. So, The Copper Courier staff asked our readers to settle it once and for all — well, at least until next year’s poll. And after hundreds of votes, we offer these three places a place on the breakfast burrito podium.
Let’s dig into what makes these three burrito powerhouses your morning MVPs.

3. Seis Kitchen
Locations in Joesler Village, Mercado San Agustin, Oro Valley, and more
If you’re into bright, beautiful spaces to light up your morning, you’re going to love Seis Kitchen before you even try one of their breakfast burritos. The atmosphere is sunny, relaxing, and while it’s casual enough for jeans, the plate presentation may make you feel like you’re eating someplace swanky.
Seis Kitchen is a modern brunch darling with Bloody Marys, mimosas, and freshly made agua frescas to pair with their regional breakfast offerings. These include their variety of amazing breakfast burritos — the superstars of their morning menu.
The most loved breakfast burrito on their menu is the Avo Burrito, their signature vegetarian option that can be made vegan. What makes it so amazing? It’s the green chile. If you’re a vegetarian in Tucson, Seis has tons of options for you that don’t skimp on flavor and aren’t a giant pain to order. The friendly staff there can help guide you and are happy to do so.
If you prefer meat with your breakfast, I don’t blame you. So don’t sleep on the El Jefe, made with Chorizo, green chile, eggs, guacamole, potatoes, and cheese. They say this burrito is made Seis-style. I’m not 100% sure what this means, but I translate it as “really, really, friggin good.” It’s truly the big boss of the breakfast burrito menu.
Did I mention that Seis Kitchen also placed for Best Taco and Best Birria in our food guide this year? This is an amazing place to get down with delicious regional cuisine.
2. Paco’s Mexican Food
5563 E. Speedway Blvd.
Paco’s Mexican Food, which opened in 1995, offers no-frills counter service with all the classic flavors you would expect from a down-home Mexican-style diner.
At Paco’s, the breakfast burritos are beautifully basic — and that’s the point. Their bacon, potato, egg, and cheese burrito is a winner in my book. No fancy aioli, no microgreens, just a comforting combo of soft scrambled eggs, crispy potatoes, melty cheese, and bacon that’s made with love (and a little grease).
For a spicy twist, locals swear by the machaca breakfast burrito made with shredded beef, eggs, and cheese with rich, spicy flavors. It’s beefy, bold, and a 100% guaranteed hangover cure.
Paco’s is unpretentious perfection. Every breakfast burrito on the menu is under $7. You read that right. I like to tell folks, “Don’t judge the outside. Just wait till you taste it.” Tucsonans love a spot that lets the food speak for itself, and at Paco’s, that food says: “Good morning. You’re about to have a great day.”
1. Nico’s Mexican Food
Multiple locations
If Tucson had a breakfast burrito hall of fame, Nico’s would be its first inductee. With convenient hours, affordable prices, and burritos the size of your forearm, Nico’s, despite being a San Diego-based company, has become a Tucson institution.
The classic bacon, egg, and cheese burrito reigns supreme at Nico’s. It’s wrapped tight in a perfectly grilled flour tortilla, stuffed with scrambled eggs, melted cheddar, and crispy bacon.
Another crowd favorite? Anything with potatoes and green chile. Their chile sauce and crispy potatoes can transform a good burrito into something that would make even Gordon Ramsay smile.
Nico’s wins for a reason: It’s consistent, craveable, and always there for you. Whether you’re fueling up before work or recovering from last night’s downtown adventure, Nico’s is Tucson’s go-to burrito BFF.
