Arizona State Parks offer free entry for veterans & military personnel

Arizona State Parks and Trails is extending an offer of free entry to veterans, active duty military personnel, and National Guard members this Veterans Day, which is Monday, November 11, 2024. The gesture is made in recognition of their service to the nation.

In a press release, Executive Director Bob Broscheid emphasized the state’s commitment to honoring the bravery and sacrifices of military members and invited them to enjoy the parks’ natural and recreational offerings.

Arizona boasts over 30 state parks, providing a wide array of activities, including fishing, hiking, mountain biking, and exploring state historic museums. Service members can find detailed information about park locations, hours, and available facilities by visiting the “Find a Park” feature on the Arizona State Parks website. The free entrance offer is limited to November 11 and requires the presentation of military identification at park entrances.

It should be noted, however, that the fee waiver does not apply to tours at Kartchner Caverns State Park and Riordan Mansion State Historic Park, nor does it cover camping or other programs with associated fees. Additionally, on that day, Tubac Presidio and Colorado River state historic parks will not be open as they are closed on Mondays. At McFarland State Historic Park, veterans have the option to sign a memorial book.
