Discover six studios in the Phoenix area that make fitness fun and will have you going to barre classes regularly.
Wanna go to the barre? Barre is a fun and active group workout that combines moves from ballet, yoga, and pilates, utilizing kinesiology to engage posture, the core, and even cardio. After a few weeks of barre, bodies form strength, get toned, and tend to look longer and leaner. As with any exercise routine, energy can increase dramatically, as well. With all of the endorphins that get released in the short 45-minute classes, instructors and group members generally tend to be kind and supportive, making it incredibly easy to stay motivated enough to see the results of a fitness routine.
If you’ve never done barre before, grab your grippy socks and your favorite yoga pants, and hit the barre. Here’s where to go.
Six studios across the Valley offering barre classes
1. Pure Barre
With studios in Phoenix and across the valley, a Pure Barre membership opens the doors to many locations. Each location varies slightly in price, ranging from $14/class in a 14-class package to an unlimited membership for $169 monthly, with different deals available throughout the year. Each studio also offers a low-risk start through a free first class so you can get rightfully addicted to Pure Barre and come back for more.
2. Barre3
With over 200 locations nationwide (plus tons of online workouts), Barre3 sets the bar high—pun intended. This franchise offers 5 studio locations across the valley. While the first class is free, different membership plans create a class price range of $16.25-23/session, with an unlimited option of $159 monthly. Different class styles include a traditional approach and prenatal workouts.
3. Mama Barre
Mama Barre is not your typical barre class. Seeking to build a community of moms that support each other to become their best selves, Mama Barre is a studio for moms with their babies ranging in age from newborn to 4 years old. The workouts are designed to incorporate babies and the space is meant to be safe for Moms. Each class series is 6 weeks long, includes two weekly classes, and is locked in with the same group of mommas, to really foster that community feel. Series cost $115 per 6 weeks at either the Scottsdale or Arcadia location, with popup classes around the valley starting at just $25. If you are a momma in need of some self care and community—which is a call to pretty much every mom—but can’t leave the baby at home, Mama Barre might just be for you!
4. Remedy Pilates & Barre
Located in Scottsdale and Arcadia, Remedy Pilates & Barre offers both private and group barre workouts as well as pilates. Testimonials highlight the quick and noticeable body transformation after just a few weeks of classes, which is enough to get just about anyone interested in getting fit here. Like many fitness club models, the first class is free. Single group workouts begin at $20 for a drop-in and $99 monthly for unlimited classes. The best part is you can toggle between both barre and pilates classes to change the workout, ensuring you don’t quickly hit any of those pesky workout plateaus.
5. Sweatshop on Central
Yoga, spin, and—of course—barre classes make up the wonder of Sweatshop on Central, an award-winning fitness studio located in Phoenix. Winners of the 2023 Best of the Valley award, there is no mystery why locals love working up a sweat here. There are classes for all levels of experience, every day of the week, with classes beginning as early as 5:30 a.m. and as late as 6:30 p.m. Classes are modestly priced, too, with drop ins starting at $20, unlimited monthly memberships beginning at $110, annual memberships for $1499, and membership discounts offered to students, teachers, military, police, and firefighters.
6. The Foundry Yoga
With seven different workout styles available, The Foundry Yoga is a one-stop shop for fitness, including the unique hot barre class. All classes at The Foundry include the hot element, which is meant to strengthen the mind while toning the body. The holistic approach taken to workout here will present a challenge worth facing, all while experiencing barre, a workout worth enduring. There are seven locations throughout the Valley and Flagstaff, and class prices start at $25 per drop in, or $180 monthly for unlimited sessions.
You can do it!
Barre workouts are effective, fun, and a great way to find community, in a community near you. While all exercise routines take discipline, this is hands down the most fun, engaging, and addicting workout I’ve ever done, making it incredibly easy to keep the fitness motivation going. If you don’t believe me, it’s time to try it for yourself. See you at the barre!
